前回紹介した培地保冷ユニットはタイマーで自動的に培地を流せるようにすると書きました。しかし時代はリモート、遠隔操作できるようにしたいものです。そこで手軽にIoT化できるマイコンボードを使うことにしました。
プログラムを書き込む従来のマイコンとは違って、サーバーに保存したプログラムを通信で読み取って動作するもの。だからWiFi接続が前提ですが、今や山奥でもない限りLAN環境は当たり前ですから、まさに時代に合ったデバイス。これを自宅からPCやスマホで操作できるとテレ実験環境の出来上がりです。
細胞培養なら複雑なプログラムは不要で、最低限として培地用ポンプがON-OFFできればまずまずです。ついでにポートを２つ３つ設けておけばトリガー信号で各種デバイスを動作させられます。培地の状況はデジカメをWEB会議システムに繋いでおくことでチェックできますしね。立ち入り制限された研究室でも長期培養が可能になりそうです。
さて、技術的には目途が立ちましたが、基板や配線が剥き出しの状態で研究者に提供するわけにはいきません。デザインも含めてどういうパッケージに仕立てるかが次の課題です。流石にこれは工作環境が要るのでおうちで開発というわけには、、、いや自室を工房に改造すればイケる！？とGW自粛期間中は伸ばし放題の髭を撫でながら考えるのでした。
